Requires either a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and three years engineering or comparable experience, or a high school diploma and five years engineering or comparable experience. Good working knowledge of dies, Tool Room equipment processes, Tool design, CAD/CAM, Automotive drawings, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, Transfer mechanisms, presses, SPC, Coordinate measuring machine, and Automotive checking fixtures. Experience verbal and written communication skills.



Analyze manufacturing processes and sequences to establish economical and safe methods of production. Responsible and accountable to actively manage the award of tool programs to successful outcome. Additional roles and responsibilities are established in the responsibility sections of the EMS Documentation.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:Maintains all machines and equipment to proper working order and performs engineering changes and PM’s on all dies.  Will work independently on projects and make recommendations for component or die designs or changes and equipment/machine repairs or alterations to improve effectiveness or efficiency.  Assists Production with thorough communication concerning Tool & Die problems or issues.  Contributes to the team effort by accomplishing results with accuracy and timeliness.



May be called upon to assist in other duties as needed to insure quality level of facility activities.  Responsible for all customer specific requirements where applicable, including those referenced in the QMS manuals.


AUTHORITY: Have the authority to stop production and report quality problems as necessary. Report all unsafe work situations to supervisor/manager.


ACCOUNTABILITY: Provide quality parts for all machines at the direction of the Tooling Manager.  Authority to represent the needs of the customer in internal functions in addressing TS16949/ISO 14001 requirements (ex. Selection of special characteristics, setting quality objectives, training, corrective & preventative actions, product design and development).  Adhering to all Lorain County Automotive System Safety procedures.


RELATIONSHIPS: Associates must be able to clearly communicate with all personnel in facility.


WORK CONDITIONS: Entire plant facility.  Must wear proper PPE, (ex. safety glasses, hearing protection, face shields, welding protection, etc.).
